As it is very difficult to see colours on a computer screen it is possible to order samples. The cost per sample is 1 euro. Unfortunately this is not possible with coupons.

Stoffendiscount keeps a stock system. This is as good as excluded. Should it be that this still applies, pays Stoffendiscount the amount within eight working days to you back.
To be on the safe side, we have a smaller stock in our system. Normally we have larger quantities in stock. If it is the case that you need more than is indicated in the system, please contact us via our contact form. We will check it for you, and make the order possible if desired.
Stoffendiscount tries as best as possible to display the products true to reality. By using the unique sample service you can see the sample itself true to form. Because we cut the products to size for you, the right of withdrawal which is usual in the "online shop world" does not apply to us. We can therefore not take back any articles. If you have received a totally different color or type of fabric, we will of course solve this. You can contact us via the contact form. Please mention your order number.
Maakservice
We believe that making curtains is craftsmanship and therefore we do this through personal contact. On the make service page you can leave your details and we will contact you personally.
Your curtains will normally be delivered within 14 days.
Dust quantity
If you do not have an electric measuring device, use a tape measure rather than a tape measure to measure curtains. Measure from the top of the rail to the desired height. If you want curtains from ceiling to floor, measure from ceiling to floor minus 1,5 cm. If you want curtains hanging on rings under a rod, measure from the bottom of the rings to the floor, again minus 1.5 cm.
You do your width times 2 and this you divide by the fabric width. This is your number of jobs. Add 30 cm to your height to finish your hems. Round up the number of strips and do this times your height. This gives you the total amount of curtains you will need. If you have chosen a fabric with a design, this will mean that you will need extra fabric. If you would like us to do the calculations for you, you can always contact us via the contact form.
Fabric information
Upholstery fabrics wear out with use, this cannot be prevented. The wear resistance of upholstery fabrics is determined by the Martindale test. The usage class for upholstery fabrics ranges from 6,000 for decorative fabrics to a minimum of 25,000 for project fabrics. This is how you can select the upholstery fabric which is suitable for the use you expect.
Martindale | Use classes | Description |
---|---|---|
< 6.000 | Decorative use | Low abrasion resistance and only suitable for use on seating that is purely decorative. For example, a decorative piece of furniture in the hallway or bedroom, on which one very rarely sits for a while. |
6.000 – 10.000 | Light residential use | Suitable for furniture that is used carefully and not on a daily basis. |
10.000 – 15.000 | Normal residential use | Withstands daily several hours of use in an average family situation. However, it should be noted that in itself not unusual habits and situations can lead to a more than normal strain on the upholstery fabric. For example, a seat in front of the TV that is used for many hours every day. |
15.000 – 20.000 | Intensive residential use | A strong upholstery fabric that can withstand several hours of intensive use every day, for example in a busy family. This usage class is also recommended when there is a fixed seat in front of the TV that is used for many hours every day. |
>20.000 | Intensive living and working | Extra strong. The term working indicates that these fabrics are also suitable for use in working situations. A comparable use can also occur in the home, for example a computer workstation at home. Furniture fabrics in this usage class can be used intensively for many hours every day. |
There is no material that is better or worse than other materials. All materials have different properties. We stand behind all our fabrics, which is why each fabric will state what it is suitable for. We have listed a number of materials for you.
Velours
We have a variety of luxury soft velvet fabrics suitable for a number of upholstery projects including curtains, cushions and upholstery. Our upholstery velvet has a short, dense pile and creates a luxuriously soft fabric that could create sumptuous curtains or furniture. We have both plain velvet and crushed velvet as well as printed velvet. Depending on the direction you look at a velvet, it can take on a different hue due to the reflection of light. Direction is very important when using it for upholstery because of its use and wear and tear. Always seek advice from an upholsterer before starting work.
Flat fabric
We have both plain and printed linen fabrics for upholstery. Some are heavy and durable and suitable for general upholstery. We also stock lightweight linen fabrics which are ideal for chairs that are not used very often. For example dining chairs, footstools, bedroom chairs and decorative furniture. Linen is usually an expensive textile and is produced in relatively small quantities. It is a textile made from the fibres of the flax plant (Latin name is Linum usitatissimum) and is labour intensive to manufacture. It can be woven in many different designs and is a beautiful natural fabric to use for both curtains and upholstery.
Imitation leather
Artificial leather (other name Skai) is made from synthetic fibres. Our faux leather upholstery fabrics are perfect for upholstery that is hard-wearing and can be easily wiped off. You can use our artificial leather to upholster chairs, sofas, car interiors and footstools. They are available in a range of colours to suit any style you want to create, whether it's a bold injection of colour or a subtle, traditional piece.
